Dutton Ranch continues the Yellowstone story as the couple moves to Texas and fights to create a new life away from their family’s troubled legacy. Feehan, who formerly worked on Lawman: Bass Reeves, departed over rumored disagreements on set, leaving the showrunner role vacant when the article was written.

Christina Alexandra Voros directed every episode of Dutton Ranch, giving the series one steady hand even as its top executive producer role opened up. She started with Taylor Sheridan as a camera operator on the first season of Yellowstone in 2018, then worked her way up to directing a pivotal episode for Beth Dutton.
In May, Voros was back in New York City for the Dutton Ranch premiere, where she addressed the series without spelling out any roadmap. “If a [roadmap] exists, I don't know what it is,” she said. “[But] I’m not saying no to anything because I would have told you everything I've done thus far was impossible.”

Taylor Sheridan introduced The Madison at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City in March, and he used that stage to talk about how he works with the people who understand his voice. “I'm a big believer that when you find a talent that understands your voice, you need to surrender to that talent,” he said, after also noting, “I can't stand these things,” at the premiere.
Dutton Ranch also welcomed Annette Bening and Ed Harris into the Yellowstone family, but the showrunner vacancy leaves the launch with one practical problem that marketing cannot solve: the series is arriving with its creative leadership unsettled. For a spinoff built on continuity, that is the part worth watching now.
