Public Utilities Board Cuts Fuel Prices 7.8 Cents in Newfoundland Gas Price Decrease

Gas fell 7.8 cents per litre in the Public Utilities Board's latest newfoundland gas price decrease ahead of the weekend. Drivers across Newfoundland and Labrador got relief at the pump, but propane moved the other way, rising three cents per litre.

Diesel dropped 7.7 cents per litre and furnace oil fell 6.64 cents in the same adjustment. The board also lowered fuel costs in parts of Labrador, where diesel declined 9.1 cents per litre and stove oil fell 8.36 cents per litre.

Public Utilities Board fuel adjustment

The latest move covers more than gasoline, giving households and fuel users a broader price break than a single-product cut. Gas, diesel and furnace oil all moved lower at once, which means the adjustment reaches commuters, home-heating customers and operators who buy multiple fuels.

Propane was the outlier. While most fuels fell, propane increased by three cents per litre, leaving users of that product with a higher bill even as drivers saw the weekend adjustment come through in their favor.

Labrador diesel and stove oil

In parts of Labrador, the reductions were larger than the provincewide gas cut. Diesel there dropped 9.1 cents per litre, while stove oil fell 8.36 cents per litre, a wider decrease that will matter most for households and businesses relying on those fuels.

Tomorrow, the Public Utilities Board's next price adjustment is expected. For readers buying fuel before then, the current cut is the price to beat; for propane users, the latest change runs in the opposite direction and adds a small but immediate cost.
