Karl Hein Secures July 2026 Werder Bremen Move — Arsenal Summer Transfer Plans 2026

Arsenal summer transfer plans 2026 opened with a sale. Karl Hein will complete a permanent move to Werder Bremen in July 2026, giving Arsenal their first summer exit ahead of the transfer window and bringing in around €3m, or £2.6m.

Hein Leaves After One Loan Spell

The 24-year-old goalkeeper spent the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Werder Bremen and made two appearances. He debuted in a 4-0 loss to Bayern Munich on September 26, 2025, then kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over St Pauli on October 4, 2025.

Hein has not played a minute for Werder Bremen since that October 4 match after missing the last couple of months of the campaign with a thumb injury. Arsenal said the deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes, but the move is already set to close in July 2026.

Arsenal Gain Fee For Hein

The fee matters because Hein was due to become a free agent on June 30, yet Arsenal will still receive value from a player who left the club’s path years after joining the Under-18s from Nomme United in 2018. He also made 41 matches for Arsenal’s Under-21s before his senior breakthrough.

His competitive senior debut came in the 2022-23 EFL Cup third round against Brighton & Hove Albion, a 3-1 defeat that marked his first appearance for Arsenal’s first team. He has also had earlier loans at Reading and Real Valladolid.

Arsenal Summer Clear-Out

Hein’s exit sits inside a wider summer picture at Arsenal, where as many as eight players could reportedly be moved on before next season. Ben White and Gabriel Jesus are among those linked with possible exits, while Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard could depart to make room for a new left-winger.

Arsenal are also assessing the futures of Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz, and Atletico Madrid have taken an interest in Cristhian Mosquera. For Hein, the move ends a loan year with a fee attached instead of a free transfer, and it gives Arsenal one early sale to work from as the window opens.
