Bruno Fernandes Wins 2025/26 Bruno Fernandes Premier League Award

Bruno Fernandes won the bruno fernandes premier league award for the first time after a 2025/26 season that put him at the center of Manchester United’s rise to third place and a UEFA Champions League spot. His 20 assists matched the Premier League single-season record, and he became the seventh player to take the award while wearing United’s shirt.

Fernandes Sets The Standard

The United captain finished the campaign with eight goals and 20 assists in 37 Premier League appearances, direct involvement in 28 goals. That output was enough to put him on top of an eight-man shortlist and ahead of Gabriel, David Raya, Declan Rice, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, Igor Thiago and Morgan Gibbs-White.

Fernandes reached the 20-assist mark in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, when Bryan Mbeumo finished the move for his 20th assist. He said after that game: “I'm very happy for the assist and for the win, and to finish the season on a high,” and added, “I got to 20, let's see [if I can get to 21], we have one more game. It's the highest I've done in the Premier League so I am very happy with it.”

Manchester United’s Assist Record

Those 20 assists moved him level with Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry for the most Premier League assists in one season. The number also sits above David Beckham’s Manchester United club record of 15 assists from the 1999/2000 campaign, which Fernandes had already beaten before the award came through.

The award has been running since 1994/95, and Fernandes is only the seventh player to win it for United. He also picked up the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award in March and was recently named the men’s Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association, the same honor Wayne Rooney last won for United in 2009/10.

Fernandes Joins United’s Past Winners

David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Peter Schmeichel, Dwight Yorke and Ruud van Nistelrooy are the other former United players in that company. Fernandes’ season has now given United another individual award to go with a top-three finish, and his place in the record book comes with one more league match still on the schedule.
