Shericka Jackson Wins 22.07 in Shanghai — Shericka Jackson Xiamen 200m
Shericka Jackson xiamen 200m opened with a win, as Jackson took the women’s 200m at the Shanghai Diamond League in 22.07. It was her first 200-meter race of the season and her fastest opener since 2023.
Shericka Jackson and Shanghai
Jackson was the clear first step in a tight race. Shaunae Miller-Uibo finished second in 22.26, and Anavia Battle took third in 22.40.
The field was crowded but not deep on breakthroughs. Only one of the nine finishers produced a personal best, which left Jackson’s 22.07 as the cleanest marker in the race.
Xiamen to Shanghai
That result carries extra weight after last year’s Diamond League opener in Xiamen, where Jackson was well-beaten by Battle. This time, she moved ahead of both Battle and Miller-Uibo, giving her season a better starting point than the one she had at the same stage a year ago.
The Shanghai meet also produced more sharp margins elsewhere. Masai Russell ran a world-leading 12.25 in the 100m hurdles, Faith Kipyegon won the 5000m by 0.07 seconds, Mark English took the 800m by 0.04 seconds, and Peruth Chemutai edged Faith Cherotich by 0.01 seconds in the steeplechase. Gift Leotlela won the men’s 100m in 9.97, and Mondo Duplantis posted his 40th straight victory in the pole vault.
2026 Diamond League Start
The Shanghai Diamond League was the first meeting of the 2026 Diamond League season, and Jackson’s run set one of its cleanest benchmarks. “Jacko is back-o, baby!”
