Legia Warszawa – Motor Lublin puts fifth place within reach
Legia Warszawa – Motor Lublin closes the season with Legia still alive for Europe, but only if it beats Motor and gets help elsewhere. Legia sits seventh on 46 points, so its path to fifth place runs through Warsaw and two other results.
Papszun on Legia’s route
Marek Papszun said Legia must win its own match before looking anywhere else. GKS Katowice have to lose to Pogoń Szczecin, and Zagłębie Lubin cannot beat Jagiellonia Białystok if Legia is to climb into the European places.
That is the pressure point for a side that finished its last league game with a 2:1 win over Lechia Gdańsk. Jean-Pierre Nsame scored in the 11th minute, Tomas Bobcek equalized in the 63rd, and Antonio Colak settled it in the 93rd minute.
Motor Lublin bring their strongest side
Motor arrive with survival already secured, which changes the stakes but not the edge of the contest. Mateusz Stolarski said his team will go to Legia with its strongest lineup and wants to win in Warsaw.
Motor’s last league outing showed the same resilience. They drew 3:3 with Cracovia after trailing 1:3, and they have 46 goals before the final round.
Karol Czubak has 18 goals and is chasing the Ekstraklasa scoring title. That gives Motor a direct route to trouble Legia even with the table already settled on their side.
Absences at Ł3
Legia will be without Patryk Kun, who is leaving the club, and several injured players: Wahan Biczahczjan, Paweł Wszołek, Arkadiusz Reca, Petar Stojanović, Claude Goncalves, Mileta Rajović and Ivan Brkić. Rajović has returned to training, but he remains listed among the unavailable players.
Motor will miss Kacper Plichta, while Ivo Rodrigues is suspended because of yellow cards. That leaves Stolarski to manage a short-handed group against a Legia side that still has a route to fifth place if the results around it break the right way.
The first meeting between these teams ended 1:1, with Rafał Augustyniak scoring for Legia and Karol Czubak scoring for Motor. This one carries more weight for Legia because a win alone is not enough; it still needs help from Katowice and Białystok to reach the European-punching fifth place.
