Police remove 70 minors from Trois-rivières bar

Police removed 70 minors from a downtown trois-rivières bar around 1 a.m. Friday after finding about 700 people inside, more than the venue was allowed to hold. Officers placed the young people on a Société de Transports de Trois-Rivières bus, and their parents were notified.

Bar l'Infidèle on rue des Forges

The operation took place at bar l'Infidèle on rue des Forges. Police also seized two bottles under the Act respecting offences relating to alcoholic beverages, while a woman in the street during the operation was arrested for disturbing the peace under the municipal bylaw.

Friday night's removals

The minors were taken out of the bar on Friday night, and police said they will soon receive a general infraction notice. The crowd size, the overcapacity finding and the number of minors removed made the operation more than a routine check: it turned into an enforcement action affecting a large share of the people inside one downtown establishment.

Parents notified after the bus ride

For the minors involved, the immediate result was removal from the bar and transport on a city bus rather than a dispersal on foot. Parents were notified after the operation, leaving the young people to face the follow-up notice once the administrative process reaches them.
