Dame Debbie Crosbie unveils £100 Nationwide Fairer Share 2026 for 4.4 million

Dame Debbie Crosbie said nationwide fairer share 2026 will deliver a £100 payment to 4.4 million eligible members in June 2026. Nationwide unveiled the fourth Fairer Share payment on Thursday, after a year in which it said it would reward people who use it for their main banking.

Nationwide’s CEO said: “Once again, we will reward people who use us for their main banking with a £100 Fairer Share payment.” The building society said the payout follows a year in which it made a pre-tax profit of £1.49 billion for the year to the end of March.

Dame Debbie Crosbie and member value

Crosbie said: “These stellar results are exactly what we want to deliver for our 22 million Nationwide customers.” She also said: “I am delighted that more than a million more people opened a Nationwide account this year.” Nationwide said it returned £1.8 billion in value for members through higher savings and lower mortgages.

The £100 payment is the fourth Fairer Share payout Nationwide has announced. The building society said 4.4 million members will be eligible in June 2026, giving the cash boost to a large part of its customer base rather than to every account holder.

Nationwide's 2024 takeover

Nationwide completed a £2.9 billion takeover of Virgin Money in 2024, and it said customers will begin to migrate from Virgin to the Nationwide brand this year. The group also said it has been first for customer satisfaction among its peer group for 14 consecutive years and has promised to keep all branches open until at least 2030.

For members who qualify, the practical step is simple: the payment is due in June 2026, and Nationwide has framed it as a reward for main-bank customers rather than a broad one-off bonus. Crosbie’s latest announcement ties the payout directly to the lender’s profit, customer growth and member returns.
