Von Miller Faces No Clear Broncos Roster Spot

von miller wants back in Denver, but the Broncos do not have an obvious roster spot for him. That is the practical problem behind a reunion talk that has lingered since he left, even with his public push to return and the franchise’s shift around Bo Nix.

Bonitto’s Broncos Room

The clearest obstacle is the edge group already on the roster. Nik Bonitto, Jonathon Cooper, Dondrea Tillman, Que Robinson and Jonah Elliss are the names expected to help fill out the rush linebacker rotation, leaving little room for another veteran who would want meaningful snaps.

Bonitto added respect for Miller’s résumé, praising the Super Bowl 50 MVP and noting how much fans and players would relish a return to the Mile High City. That praise fits the sentiment around the former Denver star, but it does not create a clean path onto the depth chart.

George Paton Traded Miller

Denver’s current stance also comes against the backdrop of how the relationship changed. In 2021, general manager George Paton traded Miller to the Los Angeles Rams, where he won another Super Bowl that same year. Since then, he has spent time with the Buffalo Bills and the Washington Commanders.

Last season, Miller still produced nine sacks in Washington at age 36. That production shows he can still rush the passer, but the Broncos are coming off a loss in the AFC championship game and have already moved their roster forward around a new franchise quarterback in Bo Nix.

Special Teams And Miller

The main reason the reunion remains hard to map out is simple: Miller is not interested in doing special teams at this stage of his career. For a player trying to fit into a crowded rush linebacker group, that limits the ways Denver could justify carrying him if the snap count is not there on defense.

Miller has been very outspoken about his desire to return to the Broncos, and Denver has largely ignored those public pleas. Unless the Broncos find a role that gives him real defensive work, the gap between his wish and their roster math stays wide.
