Jared Bednar Sees Colorado Fall 3-1 in Dallas Vs Colorado
dallas vs colorado turned into a 3-1 loss for the Avalanche on Friday, leaving them in an 0-2 hole in the Western Conference Final against the Golden Knights. Colorado’s power play went 1 for 5 through the first two games, and two chances in Game 2 came and went without a goal.
Bednar On The Missed Chances
Jared Bednar pointed to the chances Colorado created and missed, especially on the man advantage. “I think back on some big moments, 4-on-4, we’re in the zone for a minute plus, we get (Nathan) MacKinnon from the slot, we miss the net, we get (Devon) Toews from the slot, we miss the net, we get (Valeri) Nichushkin coming downhill, we miss the net. We’re going to have to force them to make some difficult saves,” he said.
That was the gap in Game 2. The Avalanche had the puck in dangerous spots, but Carter Hart kept the game tilted toward Vegas, and Colorado never turned those looks into the tying goal it needed.
Vegas Keeps Its Edge
Rasmus Andersson said the penalty kill helped swing momentum after the Golden Knights went up 2-0 in the series. “That’s part of the game, when you can (kill off a penalty) and get momentum off of it,” he said. “And we just stuck with it.”
The result matched the shape of the night. Gabriel Landeskog had a point-blank chance with 27 seconds left in the second period and could not finish it, then Brett Kulak’s slapper 51 seconds into the third was stopped by Hart. Vegas later sealed the 3-1 win with an empty-net goal, and Andersson added the assist.
Colorado Heads To T-Mobile Arena
Sunday’s Game 3 at T-Mobile Arena now carries the weight of Colorado’s 0-2 deficit. The Avalanche had carried a 25% power play conversion rate through the first two rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but that edge has not carried over against Vegas, where the series has already shifted to what Colorado can force from inside the zone rather than what it can expect on special teams.
For Colorado, the task is narrower now: turn those looks into saves Hart cannot control, and do it before the series slips further away.
