Jordan Ayew Leaving Leicester After 10-Player Release
Jordan Ayew leaving Leicester is now official after the club released 10 players following relegation from the Championship. The forward will not be part of Leicester’s League One squad next season after two seasons at the club.
Leicester City Releases 10 Players
Leicester cut loose 10 players after finishing second from bottom in the Championship, and Ayew was part of that group. Ricardo Pereira and Patson Daka are also leaving, while Asmir Begovic is in talks over a new contract.
Ayew’s exit closes a short spell in which he still delivered output. He scored 11 league goals in 72 appearances for Leicester, and he featured in all but four of their Championship matches this season.
Ricardo Pereira And Patson Daka
Pereira leaves after 220 appearances in all competitions and 15 goals for Leicester, six years after signing from Porto for £21.8m in 2018. His departure had already been announced earlier in the month, adding another long-serving name to the list of exits.
Daka’s exit carries a different kind of weight. Leicester signed him from RB Salzburg for £23m in 2021, and this season he scored five goals in 41 Championship appearances. Jamaal Lascelles also left after signing on a short-term deal in January, and Chris Popov scored seven goals during a loan spell with Morecambe this season.
Leicester City’s League One Squad
For Leicester, the release list signals how much of the squad is being reshaped after relegation. Ayew arrived only two seasons ago, but he is already out of the picture as the club moves into League One and trims players who had been central to the Championship campaign.
The 38-year-old Begovic remains the only player among the named group still in talks over his future, which leaves the rest of the departures as settled exits. Ayew’s numbers give Leicester a straightforward reference point: 11 league goals, 72 appearances, and a move on before the next campaign begins.
