Daytona International Speedway Adds LED Lighting for Daytona 500

Daytona 500 fans will see a major change at Daytona International Speedway, where advanced LED lighting is set to be installed across the 2 1/2-mile track. The project is designed to create dynamic, visually engaging moments throughout race events while improving what competitors, teams and viewers see.

Daytona International Speedway LED System

Musco is working with Daytona International Speedway on the comprehensive lighting system, which will illuminate mast poles around the oval and road course, as well as the infield and pit road. Emergency lights will also be LEDs, with accent lighting synchronized with caution lights.

The upgrade is expected to deliver brighter, more consistent illumination across the venue. That should help competitors and race teams on track, and it is also intended to improve the in-person fan experience and elevate television broadcast quality.

Ben Kennedy On NASCAR Investment

Ben Kennedy said, “The new LED lighting system at Daytona International Speedway underscores NASCAR’s continued commitment to reinvest in its facilities, enhancing the overall experience for fans attending events at Daytona as well as those watching around the world,” The NASCAR chief operating officer tied the project to the sport’s broader facility push and its effort to modernize one of its most recognizable venues.

The lighting project is the first major renovation at Daytona since NASCAR’s $400 million Daytona Rising overhaul in 2016. NASCAR is aiming to reach net zero operating emissions by 2035, and the LED system is expected to reduce energy consumption by approximately 50%.

January 2027 At Daytona

Completion is anticipated by January 2027. By then, Daytona 500 weekends and other events at the track will run under a new lighting setup built to change the look of racing at the speedway while cutting power use at the same time.
