jonathan roberge announced on social media that his 17-year-old son, Xavier Roberge, had died after more than seven years of fighting brain cancer. He said Xavier died peacefully, ending a long illness that had drawn support from medical teams and several organizations.

Roberge wrote: "C’est avec le cœur en mille miettes que je vous annonce aujourd’hui le décès de mon fils aîné, Xavier Roberge." He also said, "Mon fils s’est fièrement battu jusqu’à son dernier souffle, il peut partir la tête haute."

In the same message, Roberge thanked supporters, medical teams, Leucan, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau, Rêves d’enfants, and the Maison de soins palliatifs du Phare Enfants et Familles. He said, "Merci d’avance pour les messages de soutien." and "Je prendrai le temps de tout lire plus tard."

He added that he would respect his professional commitments in the coming weeks and focus on caring for his younger son. Roberge said later he would dedicate part of his life to raising funds for brain cancer research and would seek to act directly against the disease.

Roberge also asked for privacy around the family’s loss. He wrote, "Aucune fleur, aucun don, rien pour le moment à la demande de Xa." and added, "Pour le moment, aucune entrevue à ce sujet ne sera accordée."

He said a foundation in Xavier’s honor would be ready later, when the time comes to ask for support. The message leaves that effort tied to Xavier’s name and to the research Roberge says he wants to back after the immediate period of mourning.
