Valentino Rossi Spots Telemetry-Level Details at Catalunya
valentino rossi was reading Catalunya MotoGP from trackside like he was looking at telemetry, Fabio di Giannantonio said after Friday practice. Di Giannantonio said Rossi spotted details that are usually only visible on the data, a sharp reminder of how much technical feedback the former champion can still give without being on a MotoGP bike.
Catalunya Eye
Di Giannantonio said, “Amazing… The eye that he has is insane,” after Friday practice. He added, “I was really surprised because he sees things that you can only see on the data.”
That was the part that caught him off guard. Rossi saw enough from the edge of the circuit to make Di Giannantonio ask, “He sees these things, and you are like, ‘Were you on track with me?’”
Rossi In The Garage
Di Giannantonio said Rossi was able to pick up a lot from the others and that he was pressing for his arrival in the garage. “For this, I was asking a lot, ‘when are you coming, when are you coming?’” he said.
He also said Rossi’s presence carried more than nostalgia. “Not just for his presence, which is huge, because the energy that he brings is amazing, but because you can really improve a lot with Vale in the garage,” Di Giannantonio said. He added, “It’s like he has this great capacity of understanding easily what’s new, also if he didn’t try it,” and, “You explain, and he gets it, and when he does a comment back, the comment is right. Like if he tried it!”
Valencia To Catalunya
Rossi has not been on a MotoGP bike since his final race at Valencia in 2021, but Di Giannantonio said that gap has not stopped him from reading the modern machines quickly. The rider’s surprise came from how specific the advice was, not from the fact that Rossi was nearby.
The weekend closed with Di Giannantonio and VR46’s first win since 2023, which only sharpened the value of every detail passed around the garage. For a rider trying to turn trackside observations into speed, Rossi’s comments were not just loud presence; they were data-level input without the laptop.
