Lewis Hamilton Mum Sees P2 in Montreal for Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton mum was in the Ferrari garage when Lewis Hamilton surged past Max Verstappen late in Montreal and finished second at the Canadian Grand Prix. It was his best Ferrari result so far and worth 18 hard-fought points.

Hamilton and Carmen in Montreal

Hamilton said before the race weekend that his mother was coming because “the atmosphere in the city is electric.” Carmen Hamilton rarely travels for races outside the UK, which made this trip to Montreal unusual even before the chequered flag.

After the late move on Verstappen, Carmen cheered from the team garage as her son secured second place. Hamilton has been trying to get her to travel on the road for a while, and he said she had finally agreed after promising at the end of last year that next year would be the year she came with him.

China Set the Pattern

This was not her first race of the season. Carmen also attended the Chinese Grand Prix in March, where Hamilton finished third, and he said China was “honestly the best time we’d ever had together.” He also called his mother “really my best friend,” a line that fit the way Montreal unfolded around their rare time together away from the UK.

The race itself gave Hamilton a cleaner outcome than the run of form he described as “really tough for the last year and a bit.” He thanked the Ferrari crew for welcoming him “with open arms” and said the weekend had found its sweet spot after a difficult stretch.

Ferrari’s Best Hamilton Result

Montreal gave Hamilton 18 points and a result he had not reached in Ferrari colors before. George Russell was also part of a weekend shaped by a quick Mercedes package, while Kimi Antonelli won the race, leaving Hamilton’s second place as the headline result for Ferrari’s side of the garage.

That finish now stands as the sharpest marker of his Ferrari campaign so far, and it came with his mother close enough to see the late pass that made it happen. For Hamilton, the weekend combined performance and family in the same garage, with the points total matching the significance of the place finish.
