Ajay Mitchell Ruled Out For Game 4; Thunder Schedule Faces Hit

Oklahoma City’s thunder schedule took a hit Sunday when Ajay Mitchell was ruled out for Game 4 of the Western Conference finals against the San Antonio Spurs. He strained his right soleus in Game 3 and did not finish the first half, cutting into a rotation role that had grown during the postseason.

Mitchell’s Game 3 exit

Mitchell left with 3:56 remaining in the first half after straining the muscle in the second quarter. He played 16:53 in Game 3, scoring two points on 1-of-5 shooting, missing his only 3-point attempt, and adding five rebounds, one assist and three turnovers.

That line came in Oklahoma City’s 123-108 win on Friday night, a result that gave the Thunder a 2-1 series lead. Mitchell’s absence now removes one of the team’s more efficient connective pieces from a series game that carries direct weight in the Western Conference finals.

Thunder rotation pressure

Mitchell has been one of Oklahoma City’s most valuable contributors, and his season numbers show why the injury report matters beyond one night. He averaged 13.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals in 57 regular-season games, and the Thunder went 6-1 when he scored at least 20 points.

His playoff production has been more than a side note. Oklahoma City is 4-0 this postseason when he scores 20 or more, and the Thunder are 10-1 overall in the playoffs. Entering the weekend, Mitchell ranked ninth among playoff players in total points off drives and shot 47.2 percent on those attempts.

Jalen Williams and Thomas Sorber

The rest of the Game 4 injury report added two more names around the same rotation picture. Jalen Williams was listed as questionable with left hamstring soreness, and Thomas Sorber was on the report because of recovery from right ACL surgery.

Mitchell also posted a plus-21.4 net-rating swing in the 2026 playoffs, second among Thunder players behind Alex Caruso’s plus-27.3. With Williams in and out of the lineup, Mitchell’s workload had already climbed, and Sunday’s ruling forces Oklahoma City to adjust again while the series is still in reach.
