Jack Osbourne unveils AI hologram plan for Ozzy Osbourne at Licensing Expo

jack osbourne and Sharon Osbourne unveiled plans this week at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas for an AI-powered hologram of Ozzy Osbourne. The project is built to keep his voice, personality, and mannerisms in play for fans.

Sharon Osbourne said, “You can ask Ozzy anything, and he will answer you in your own voice — and the answers will be what Ozzy would have said.” Jack added, “He will exist digitally as himself for as long as we have computers.”

Las Vegas licensing pitch

The Osbournes made the announcement while discussing the future of the Osbourne brand on the main stage at the Licensing Expo. The pitch goes beyond a static likeness: fans in the US and UK are supposed to be able to interact with the digital version in multiple languages, with real-time responses and eye contact.

Jack said, “Technology has come such a long way to where it’s almost drag and drop. You could shoot a template for a commercial... literally prompt what you want Digital Ozzy to do in that commercial and you just drop it in. It’s that simple now.” That puts the project into a clear commercial lane, not just a memorial one.

David Nussbaum and Proto Hologram

David Nussbaum, founder of Proto Hologram, said, “He’s not just a chatbot, he can truly read the room.” He said the hologram might recognize a Black Sabbath tattoo, treat executives differently from headbangers, or settle a distracted crowd.

Proto Hologram has already built holograms of Julie Chen Moonves, Elton John, Olivia Rodrigo, William Shatner and Kenan Thompson. Jewel also had a holographic twin greet visitors at a 2024 exhibit at Crystal Bridges Art Museum in Bentonville, Arkansas, showing the format has already moved from novelty into repeatable presentation.

Late summer and 2028

A digital lookalike of Ozzy Osbourne is expected as soon as late summer, with the plan to interact with fans while appearing to make eye contact. Hyperreal will use authenticated source material or digital DNA to bring Digital Ozzy to life, after the company used digital DNA to resurrect Stan Lee for Los Angeles Comic-Con last year.

Ozzy Osbourne died last year at age 76, which gives the project its sharpest edge: this is not a tribute act dressed up with software, but a branded digital extension built around his own voice and mannerisms. Sony Pictures is also working on an Ozzy Osbourne biopic scheduled for a 2028 theatrical release, so the estate is now pushing his image through both cinema and interactive licensing.
