Aku Raty Signs One-Year, Two-Way Deal Worth $850,000

Aku Raty joined the Edmonton Oilers on Monday on a one-year, two-way contract worth $850,000, giving the club another forward option with recent pro experience in Finland and North America. The 24-year-old Finnish winger arrives after a season that included 20 goals and 37 assists in 51 games for Karpat.

Raty Adds Oilers Forward Depth

The move gives Edmonton a player who split recent seasons between Finland’s Liiga, the American Hockey League and one NHL appearance. Raty played in the AHL from 2023 to 2025, then returned to Karpat this season and finished with 57 points, the seventh highest total in the Liiga.

That production came in 51 games, a pace that stood out in Finland’s top league. He is a native of Oulu, and his path now runs through a contract that can keep him moving between the NHL roster and the minors.

Coyotes, AHL, Finland

Arizona selected Raty in the fifth round of the 2019 Draft, and his resume since then has been built through steady stops rather than a straight line to the NHL. He has one game of NHL experience from the 2023-24 season, when he had an assist in his only appearance for the Coyotes.

In the AHL, he produced 21 goals and 48 assists in 120 games from 2023 to 2025. He also represented Finland at the World Junior Championship in 2020 and 2021, then won bronze with Finland at the 2021 tournament.

For Edmonton, the signing is a depth move with a clear roster function: Raty gives the organization another forward who has already handled professional minutes in two leagues and has shown scoring ability in each. His contract fits that role, and his recent numbers in Liiga make him a practical call-up option if the Oilers need another forward during the season.

Edmonton now has a 24-year-old winger under a one-year, two-way deal, and his next step is simple enough. He has to turn that mix of Liiga production, AHL work and one NHL assist into a longer stay with the Oilers organization.
