Cedar City police said one person is suspected to have died in a trailer fire that started Sunday afternoon near 1027 N. Main. ksl news
Crews responded just after 12:30 p.m. and found the trailer home fully engulfed in flames. The fire spread to a neighboring home and damaged several vehicles and nearby properties.
Cedar City police release
“At this time, investigators believe there may be one deceased victim associated with the fire. Out of respect for the individual and their family, no identifying information will be released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin,” Cedar City police said in a news release.
Police did not say whether the person was in the trailer where the fire started or in a neighboring property. Two officers were taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation as a precaution and were later released.
State fire marshal investigation
The state fire marshal is investigating, while Cedar City police said, “We are grateful for the cooperation and patience shown by community members during the response and investigation.” The report leaves neighbors with a damaged trailer, a burned neighboring home, and several affected vehicles and properties as the inquiry continues.
