Texas Tech Routs Florida 16-7, Florida Softball Not Shaking Hands
Texas Tech beat Florida 16-7 in game three of the Gainesville Super Regional, and florida softball not shaking hands hovered over a deciding matchup that sent the Red Raiders to the Women’s College World Series. The No. 11 Red Raiders turned a one-game series loss into a berth after splitting the first two games and taking control late.
Texas Tech Takes Game Three
Mia Williams was hit by her fifth pitch across the three-game series, then scored after Jasmyn Burns lined a single to left field for a 2-0 Texas Tech lead. Florida answered in the bottom of the second when Kenleigh Calahan launched a two-run home run to put the Gators ahead 4-2.
Texas Tech brought in NiJaree Canady in relief for Kaitlyn Terry after Terry allowed three runs off four hits in.2 innings pitched. The game then went into a lightning delay and resumed about 1:50 p.m., after which Texas Tech kept pushing the score upward with power swings that kept Florida from settling into the game.
Mia Williams And Jackie Lis
After play resumed, Mia Williams hit a two-run home run to put Texas Tech back in front 5-4. Jackie Lis followed with a two-run shot to extend the lead to 7-4, only for Florida to answer again when Ava Brown hit a three-run home run to tie it 7-7.
Texas Tech broke it open from there. Taylor Pannell put the Red Raiders ahead 8-7 with a solo home run, Jackie Lis added a three-run home run with two outs to make it 11-7, and Pannell later hit a two-run home run that stretched the margin to 12-7.
Florida’s Pitching Breaks
Florida never found enough clean innings to stop the surge. Keagan Rothrock pitched two innings and allowed eight runs off six hits, while Leah Stevens worked 1.1 innings and allowed four runs off four hits while striking out two before Allison Sparkman entered as the second relief pitcher for Stevens.
The deciding stretch turned on Texas Tech’s ability to keep scoring after every Florida answer. Florida loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth, but Canady got the final out, and the Red Raiders finished the job with a 16-7 win that completed the super regional and sent No. 11 Texas Tech into the Women’s College World Series.
