Golden Knights Rally Past Avalanche 5-3 in Game 3, Hockey Game Tonight

Vegas turned a three-goal hole into a 5-3 win over Colorado on Sunday in hockey game tonight, then walked away with a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference final. The Avalanche now face elimination after dropping the first three games of the series.

Vegas Blows Open Game 3

The Golden Knights erased Colorado’s three-goal lead in the first period and scored five times to complete the comeback in Game 3. That left the Avalanche chasing the game for the rest of the night, and they never recovered.

Vegas’ surge changed the series in one period. Colorado had opened with three unanswered goals, but the Golden Knights responded and took control before the opening frame ended.

Bednar Sees A Steep Climb

Jared Bednar did not hide how far the Avalanche have to go after the loss. “It’s a big hill to climb,” he said afterward. “You’ve got to find a way to get over it.”

Colorado reached this point after a long season that included eight players sent to the Olympics in February. Four Avalanche players made the Olympic gold-medal game and worked the whole break, and Brock Nelson returned straight to the club after winning gold with the USA team.

Colorado’s Margin Shrinks

The Avalanche lost the first two games at home before Game 3 in Las Vegas, and the series has now swung fully to the Golden Knights. Colorado was the best team in the NHL this season when it did not matter, but the final has left it needing a fast answer against a Vegas team that also sent players to Milan.

Game 4 now carries the weight for Colorado. Another loss ends the series, and Bednar’s club has already spent all three games trying to recover from the same deficit.
