Parliament Square Stops TT 2026

Free practice had been running since 1100 before the crash stopped everything. Serious incident response procedures were put in place immediately, and all racing activity was suspended for the rest of the day.

The rider was conscious and talking while receiving treatment for leg injuries. All eight spectators who needed treatment were also said to be conscious.

Course Closed For Four Hours

The majority of the course stayed closed for the next four hours after the stoppage. That left the opening day locked down well after the incident at Parliament Square, with no racing able to resume.

The crash came after Franco Bourne said at 1045 that he would not be competing after all, just before he was due to start his Newcomer’s lap. The opening day had also included Michael Dunlop on the Honda Fireblade he used in the Superbike races at the North West 200, while he also rode his Superstock BMW.

TT 2026 Racing Delayed

Action was due to recommence tomorrow evening with a Superstock/Superbike session at 1830. The incident leaves TT 2026 opening-day plans already reshaped, with the course shut down after a crash that put spectators at the center of the story.
