Jalen Brunson Wins Eastern Conference Finals Mvp After Knicks Sweep Cavaliers
Jalen Brunson won the eastern conference finals mvp after the New York Knicks finished a 130-93 Game 4 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers and completed the sweep Monday. The award followed a series in which he set the pace for a Knicks run that carried them to the NBA Finals for the first time since the 1998-99 season.
Brunson Drives the Sweep
Brunson averaged 25.5 points and 7.7 assists in the four-game series. He was at the center of the only close turn in the matchup when he scored 38 points in Game 1, helping the Knicks erase a 22-point fourth-quarter deficit and win in overtime.
He kept producing after that escape. Brunson scored 19 points and had 14 assists in Game 2, then added 30 points in Game 3 before the Knicks closed the series with a 37-point win in Game 4.
Knicks Push Past Cleveland
The sweep gave New York an 11-game playoff winning streak and a 12-2 record in the postseason. The 130-93 finish ended Cleveland’s run in the East and sent the Knicks into the NBA Finals with Brunson as the series' top performer.
For New York, the advance also ends a long gap. The Knicks had not reached the Finals since the 1998-99 season, and they have not won a title since the 1972-73 season.
Oklahoma City Or San Antonio
The Knicks now wait for the next opponent, with the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs listed as the possible Finals matchup. Brunson’s series line — 25.5 points and 7.7 assists — leaves New York carrying both a clean sweep and a guard who controlled each game’s biggest scoring and playmaking stretches.
