BYD plans to bring the byd dolphin-linked Sealion 05 to Europe in 2027, after introducing the crossover to the Chinese market. The hybrid version can travel up to 305 km on electric power alone, with a total range of 2,105 km when paired with its gasoline engine.

BYD says the Sealion 05 will reach the European market in 2027. For buyers comparing hybrids across the region, the model enters with a fuel consumption figure of 3.1 liters per 100 km and a range claim that goes beyond more than 2,000 kilometers in combined use.
The crossover uses a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 99 hp and a 163 hp electric motor. BYD also offers a fully electric Sealion 05 on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo, with up to 630 km of range on the CLTC cycle in China.

The Sealion 05 measures 4.62 m in length, 1.86 m in width, and has a 2.77 m wheelbase. Inside, it comes with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central rotating display, along with the God’s Eye semi-autonomous driving system.
The European launch matters because the model is already on sale in China, and European standards are generally stricter, which could reduce the real-world driving range of the electric version there. BYD is positioning the Sealion 05 as an affordable alternative to European and Japanese hybrids, setting up a direct test of whether its range and pricing can hold up against established rivals.
