Ross Brawn Joins Pramac Board in MotoGP Move
ross brawn has joined the board of directors at Pramac and will work as a strategic adviser to team principal Paolo Campinoti. The move brings one of Formula 1’s most experienced figures into a Yamaha satellite outfit that is adding senior motorsport judgment at the top of its structure.
Brawn said he was “delighted to join” Pramac and that “Motorsport has always been about people, teamwork and continuous improvement, and I look forward to supporting Paolo and the team and contributing where my experience may be useful.” He also said, “Pramac has built an impressive organisation with a strong spirit and ambition, and I‘m excited to be part of its future.”
Campinoti adds Brawn
Campinoti said Brawn’s “extraordinary career and achievements in Formula 1” were part of why the appointment matters inside the team. He added, “Beyond his extraordinary career and achievements in Formula 1, Ross is someone with whom I have shared a friendship and a relationship of great respect for many years.”
He also said, “I believe that his vision, knowledge and winning mentality will make a valuable contribution to the continued growth and development of Pramac.” That puts the role squarely in the advisory lane rather than on-track operations, with Brawn joining the board while supporting the team principal directly.
From Schumacher to Mercedes
The appointment draws on a career that shaped several eras of Formula 1. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Brawn was a key part of Benetton and Ferrari’s title-winning machines with Michael Schumacher, then led Brawn GP to the 2009 Formula 1 title.
He later served as Formula 1 managing director on behalf of Liberty Media from 2017 until the end of 2022, before exiting that role at the end of 2022. He also helped steer the early years of the Mercedes works team, adding another layer of top-level championship experience to his new job with Pramac.
Pramac’s new structure
For Pramac, the practical change is simple: the team has placed a former F1 powerbroker on its board and made him a strategic adviser to Campinoti. In a MotoGP paddock where organizational detail can matter as much as pace, the team is betting that Brawn’s background in championship operations can strengthen its decision-making without changing its basic identity as a Yamaha satellite team.
That leaves Pramac with a sharper leadership bench and Brawn with a fresh role after leaving Formula 1 management in 2022. His first task is already clear: support Campinoti and contribute where his experience may be useful.
