Carys Zeta Douglas to Debut as Nina in June Seagull
carys zeta douglas will make her stage debut as Nina in Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull at St. Lydia’s in Brooklyn from June 20 through June 27. The 23-year-old, the youngest child of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, is taking her first professional step into New York theater after moving to the city to pursue acting.

The limited-run production gives Douglas a concrete first stage credit in New York City, with Nina as the lead role. For a performer who already studied Film and International Relations at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, the move shifts her from classroom credentials and a 2024 short-film credit into live theater.
She previously starred in the 2024 short film F*ck That Guy with Victoria Pedretti, then graduated last May. After that, she described her own approach to acting at the 2025 PAC NYC Icons of Culture Gala: “I grew up doing theater, and I didn't study acting in school, but that's why I'm happy to be in such an informative arts space, so hopefully more of that,”

Her mother wrote on Instagram, “We are both such proud parents right now!! It's only just begun!!” The reaction fits a family in which acting is already part of the frame: Douglas is entering the same business her parents have worked in, while her older brother Dylan, 25, has also pursued acting and producing.
The sharp part of this debut is that it is not a rollout built on scale. It is a six-day run, a lead role, and a first stage appearance in Brooklyn, which makes the stakes narrower and cleaner than a typical celebrity launch. If this is the start of a longer theater path, the measure will be simple: whether she can turn a name already known in film circles into repeat stage work.
