Djokovic Draws Royer Third at Roland Garros — French Open Schedule
Novak Djokovic is set to face Valentin Royer in the third match on Court Philippe-Chatrier on Wednesday, and the french open schedule puts the No. 3 seed back on center court at Roland Garros. Second-round singles action begins that day in Paris.
Djokovic at Philippe-Chatrier
The matchup comes after Djokovic came back from a set down on Sunday night against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. It was his first match in two-and-a-half-months, and it came during only his third event since reaching the Australian Open final in January.
Royer arrives with a narrow stat line of his own. He is 0-2 in the second round of Majors, a mark that frames the task on the sport’s biggest clay stage against a player who has already survived one long opening-round test.
Swiatek and Rybakina on Day 4
Day 4 also features Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina and Alexander Zverev across the Paris draw. Swiatek opens at 12:00pm on Court Philippe-Chatrier against Sara Bejlek, while Rybakina is second on Court Suzanne-Lenglen against Yuliia Starodubtseva.
Swiatek has advanced to the second week in all seven of her prior Roland Garros appearances, and she dropped just three games in her opening round. Rybakina was nearly as sharp, dropping just four games in her first match, while Starodubtseva also lost only four games in the last round.
Zverev and the lower courts
Zverev is scheduled not before 8:15 on Philippe-Chatrier against Tomas Machac, with the pair both having won their first-round matches in straight sets. Zverev beat Machac 6-3, 7-5 during the Paris Olympics two years ago.
Other second-round matches spread across the grounds include Joao Fonseca against Dino Prizmic third on Court 14 and James Duckworth against Rafael Jodar third on Court 7. Fonseca beat Luka Pavlovic in straight sets on Sunday, while Prizmic has won 26 matches this year at all levels and 19 on clay, with upset wins over Ben Shelton in Madrid and Djokovic in Rome.
Duckworth reached this stage after Gabriel Diallo retired mid-match, and Jodar advanced in his opener while dropping only five games. The Day 4 board turns Wednesday into a crowded second-round card, but Djokovic’s slot third on Philippe-Chatrier is the one that centers the schedule in Paris.
