Tim Ream Makes USMNT’s 26-Man 2026 World Cup Roster
tim ream is on the United States Men’s National Team’s 26-man FIFA World Cup 2026 roster. Charlotte FC’s defender was named to the squad on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and the selection gives the club a second active player in its history to make a World Cup roster.
Ream arrives with a long USMNT track record. He started all four matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, then started every match for the team at Copa America 2024, and he has appeared 80 times for the national team.
Charlotte FC and Karol Swiderski
The Charlotte FC connection is specific. Ream became the second player in club history to be named to a FIFA World Cup squad while active with the team, following Karol Swiderski, who made Poland’s 2022 World Cup squad while with Charlotte.
That places Ream in rare company inside the club, but it also shows how central he has remained to the USMNT. Mauricio Pochettino selected the 26 players for the summer roster, and Ream is one of eight MLS players on it.
USMNT Group D schedule
The United States goes into Group D with Paraguay on June 12, Australia on June 19 and Türkiye on June 25. Before that group stage begins, fans in Charlotte get the first chance to see the team when it faces Senegal in the Allstate Continental Clásico on Sunday, May 31, at 3:30 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium.
For Charlotte supporters, Ream’s place on the roster creates a direct local link to the World Cup buildout. He has featured 54 times for Charlotte FC in MLS play, including playoffs, and now carries that club presence into a United States roster that mixes MLS veterans with the rest of Pochettino’s 26-man group.
Pochettino’s 26-man choice
Zoran Krneta called Ream’s selection “Tim Ream’s inclusion in the United States Men’s National Team squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ is a proud moment for our Club.” He added, “Tim represents the highest standard of professionalism, and all of Charlotte will be cheering him on this summer.”
He also said, “We aspire to be a destination for top American talent, and we hope Tim is the first of many players to represent Charlotte FC for the USMNT on the world’s biggest stage.” The roster spot gives Ream a national-team role that has already been tested at the 2022 World Cup and again at Copa America 2024, and it extends Charlotte FC’s reach into the tournament stage before the United States opens Group D play.
