Tornado Warning San Antonio: Bexar County Alert Lasted Until 10:30 p.m.
A tornado warning san antonio was in effect for parts of Bexar County until 10:30 p.m., and residents were told to seek shelter immediately. Parts of Atascosa County were also under a tornado warning as severe weather moved across South Central Texas.
The warning sat alongside a severe thunderstorm watch that ran until 9 p.m. from Medina County west to Val Verde County. In Bexar County, the severe thunderstorm watch remained valid until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Bexar County and Atascosa County
The warning covered parts of both counties, putting San Antonio in the affected area through the evening. Large hail and damaging winds were the main severe weather concerns, with the area under a Level 1 to 2 out of 5 severe storm outlook for strong winds and hail.
That combination gave the warning more than one immediate hazard. The tornado warning addressed the most urgent threat, while the storm outlook and watch showed the wider setup was still capable of producing hail and wind problems after the warning period.
Flood Watch Through Wednesday Morning
A Flood Watch was in effect through Wednesday morning for San Antonio and the Hill Country, west along Hwy 90 to Del Rio. Forecasts called for variably cloudy conditions today with a 30% chance of afternoon rain and an 80% chance of rain at night.
Wednesday was forecast to stay variably cloudy with a 40% chance of rain, and Thursday was expected to be partly sunny with a 20% chance of rain. For people in the warning area, the practical next step was simple: stay ready for renewed severe weather and flooding concerns as the watches continued past the tornado warning.
