Jonathan Andic Steps Aside at Mango After 45-Word Denial

Jonathan Andic is temporarily standing aside as vice-chair of Mango after a Spanish court named him a suspect in the investigation into his father’s death. In an open letter published on Tuesday, he said the accusation bore “no relation to reality” and set out his objection to the case.

Jonathan Andic Letter

Andic wrote that “A public narrative has been constructed that is one-sided, taken out of context and distorted, and which has created a perception of guilt that bears no relation to reality. I know that dismantling it will require time, effort and intense dedication.” He also said, “We shared many happy, cherished and loving moments together. As is the case in so many families, we have also faced difficult and challenging times, which we have overcome through great effort, generosity and support.”

His move affects a leadership role at the fashion group’s holding company while the inquiry continues. Andic was named executive-vice president in January 2025, after Isak Andic died in December 2024.

Spanish Court Writ

The judge’s writ said there was evidence to suggest the death may not have been accidental. It also said Jonathan Andic “played an active and premeditated role,” and described WhatsApp messages that expressed “feelings of hatred, resentment and thoughts of death, and blaming his father for his situation.”

The writ said the relationship between father and son had deteriorated because of Jonathan Andic’s obsession with money. Andic disputed that account in his letter, while Mango’s board issued a statement on Tuesday saying it had “full confidence that the legal proceedings will be resolved favourably and trust that this will happen as swiftly as possible.”

The case now turns on the legal proceedings after a public suspect designation and a temporary step back from one of Mango’s top roles. That leaves the board’s support and the court’s allegations running in parallel as the investigation moves forward.
