Parris Campbell Retires at 28, Cowboys Move Him to Reserve/Retired List

parris campbell retired from the NFL in 2026, and the Dallas Cowboys moved him to the Reserve/Retired List before voluntary OTAs in June. He was 28 and less than two months from his 29th birthday, ending a career that took him from Indianapolis to New York, Philadelphia and Dallas.

Cowboys Lose Campbell

Dallas now has two available roster spots after Campbell’s retirement, and that changes the club’s 90-man depth chart heading into the next phase of offseason work. The move also closes the book on the veteran wide receiver’s brief time with the Cowboys after he signed with the team in 2025.

Campbell was a former second-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2019 and spent four seasons there. His most productive season came in Year 4, then he signed with the New York Giants in 2023 and later played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024.

Campbell’s NFL Run

That 2024 season ended with a Super Bowl ring for Campbell in Philadelphia, adding a title to a career that moved quickly across four teams in four years. He later joined Dallas on a futures/reserves deal in January before stepping away from the league just ahead of the Cowboys’ June OTAs.

For the Cowboys, the immediate impact is simple: one player is gone, and two roster openings are now available on a 90-man group that was already carrying a vacancy before Campbell’s decision. For Campbell, the retirement lands before he turned 29, ending the run of a player who entered the league as a second-round pick and left with stops in Indianapolis, New York, Philadelphia and Dallas.
