Brindamour Bumps Hurricanes to Video Day After 6-2 Loss
brindamour kept the Hurricanes off the ice on Friday and sent them into a video session after a 6-2 loss to the Canadiens. The move came after a game in which Carolina allowed five breakaways and was asked to reset before Saturday night.
Rod Brind'Amour’s Video Session
Brind’Amour said the group needed a good old video day after the defeat. He also said he did not want to go into the details of what was said in the session.
That message followed one of the clearest signs of trouble in the loss: five breakaways allowed. Brind’Amour said he expects the team to play well every night, and he called the previous outing rare for a group that usually does not look like that.
Seth Jarvis and the Locker Room
Seth Jarvis said the coach was a little angry in the meeting, and he added that everyone in the room was a little angry too. Jarvis said the reaction fit the moment.
Jarvis also backed the message behind it.
The forward said defense comes first for Carolina on Saturday night, because the Hurricanes generate offense from their defense. He said that if they clean that up, things should go well.
Saturday Night’s Priority
That makes the Friday video day more than a routine review. It was a direct response to a 6-2 loss that Brind’Amour said should not look like Carolina’s normal game, and it sent the team into Saturday with the focus narrowed to defending first.
