West Kelowna opens survey on Westbank plan until June 17 — Castanet

castanet West Kelowna has opened a survey asking residents what is working in Westbank, what needs improvement and what matters most as the city updates its plan for the urban centre. Residents can submit feedback at OurWK.ca/westbankcentre until June 17.

Westbank Centre Revitalization Plan

The current Westbank Centre Revitalization Plan was adopted 15 years ago. Since 2011, Memorial Park, Spring Park, the transit exchange and the new city hall have been upgraded or constructed, and city staff say the next phase will focus on new development, improved connections and a more active, walkable downtown.

The new plan is intended to reinforce Westbank as West Kelowna’s downtown, address transportation and mobility challenges, reflect best practices and market conditions, and align with the Official Community Plan. City staff and the consulting team are currently carrying out public and stakeholder engagement.

The survey is the current public step in that process, and it is the channel residents are being asked to use before the June 17 deadline. That gives people a direct way to weigh in before the draft plan is prepared this summer and before the final version goes to West Kelowna city council in the fall.

For residents, the immediate question is whether the city’s next version of Westbank’s core will match how they actually use it now. The feedback window is open, the work on the new plan is underway, and the draft will show whether the city is steering toward more development, stronger connections and a more walkable downtown.
