JP McManus Opens Adare Manor for Ryder Cup 2027

Adare Manor will host ryder cup 2027 next September, putting Limerick back at the center of golf in Ireland. It will be only the second time the event has been held in Ireland, with JP McManus’ parkland course taking the honor.

Adare Manor and JP McManus

McManus owns Adare Manor, and his course becomes the venue for the next Ryder Cup after years of interest in the Mid-West as a golf destination. The timing gives Limerick and Clare a rare run in the spotlight, with Shannon International Airport about 25 minutes from Limerick.

The region’s pitch is broader than one venue. Limerick has six other golf courses, while Clare offers two of Ireland’s top-rated links courses in Lahinch and Trump International Doonbeg.

Clare’s links courses

Trump International Doonbeg hosted this year’s Irish Open in September, and Rory McIlroy will defend his national title at that event later this year. That keeps the county on a busy schedule before the Ryder Cup arrives at Adare Manor next September.

For visitors and golfers, the practical draw is obvious: one county hosts a parkland Ryder Cup venue, the neighboring county adds elite links golf, and the airport link keeps the whole corridor accessible without a long transfer.

Dromoland Castle Golf

One of the most detailed stops on a recent group press trip was Dromoland Castle, where the golf club has existed since 1962. The course was completely revamped and redesigned in 2003 by Ron Kirby and JB Carr, with more than 5 million euros spent on the work and a further 3 million euros invested over the past three years.

Dromoland Castle also hosted the women’s Irish Open in 2022 and 2023. It is a par-72 Championship course on a 450-acre estate, and the opening hole plays uphill with no bunkers, a simple look that still asks for precision from the first swing.

That mix of Adare Manor, Dromoland Castle, Lahinch and Doonbeg gives the Mid-West a case few regions can make. When ryder cup 2027 reaches Limerick next September, the event will sit inside a stretch of golf that already has tournament history, investment and variety built into it.
