Frontier Reveals Planet Zoo 2 Launching October 13, 2026

Frontier Developments has revealed planet zoo 2, and the sequel is set to launch on 13th October 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The timing gives the company a clear runway before the game reaches three platforms at once, with pre-orders already live.

Frontier's 2019 sequel

The new game arrives as a follow-up to the 2019 original, which established the series as a zoo management hit. Frontier is leaning harder into breadth this time, describing Planet Zoo 2 as a "generational leap forward in animation and animal behaviour" while extending the park-building formula beyond land animals.

Aquatic spaces will sit alongside aviaries at launch, and that is the real shift in scope. The sequel will let players build fully customizable aquariums for fresh and saltwater animals, care for them in wetsuits through airlocks, and house flying animals in editable aviaries with support poles placed dynamically.

Aquariums and aviaries

Black-tipped Reef Sharks, Hawksbill Turtles and shoals of fish are part of the aquatic lineup, while Toco Toucans and Secretary Birds will occupy the aviaries. Guests will also be able to walk through suitable aviaries, giving the sequel a more public-facing layout than the original's standard enclosure model.

That broader habitat mix is the friction point for players and for Frontier: the sequel is not just adding more animals, it is asking for more complex space management across water, air and traditional enclosures. The release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC makes that ambition more visible, because all three versions have to carry the same systems at launch.

June showcase dates

Planet Zoo 2 will also appear during the Wholesome Games showcase on 6th June and the PC Gaming Show on 7th June. Those dates give Frontier two more public beats before launch, and they should be the moments to watch for any deeper look at how the new habitats actually play in motion.
