Spurs Vs Okc Game 7: Thunder Beat San Antonio 127-114 in Game 5

spurs vs okc game 7 is not here yet. The San Antonio Spurs lost 127-114 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 on Tuesday in Oklahoma City, and now trail the series 3-2. Victor Wembanyama finished with 20 points, his lowest total of the series, as San Antonio heads to a do-or-die Game 6 on Thursday night in San Antonio.

Wembanyama’s 20 points

Wembanyama shot 4 for 15 from the floor and missed all five of his three-point attempts, though he made all 12 free throws. Mitch Johnson said afterward, “He’s got to take more than 15 shots, even with the free throws,” and added, “He’s going to have to score more than 20 points, for sure.... OKC did a good job. We’ve got to do a better job.”

The numbers tracked the problem. San Antonio won twice in the series when Wembanyama was the clear engine, including games in which he scored 41 points and 33 points. In those wins, he shot 7 for 15 and 6 for 11 from the field in the first halves. In the three losses, his halftime shooting lines were 2 for 4, 2 for 5 and 2 for 6.

Thunder pressure in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City leaned on Isaiah Hartenstein, Chet Holmgren, Jaylin Williams, Alex Caruso and other defenders on Wembanyama. Jared McCain summed up the approach: “It’s a team defence,” he said. “We talked about it. We made adjustments to it. We know that when he gets going, their whole team gets going.”

The Thunder also created separation in the third quarter. They opened an 18-point lead early, the Spurs cut it to eight later in the period, and San Antonio went to the fourth down 10. The Spurs scored only two points in the first 4:02 of the final quarter, and the gap never fully closed.

San Antonio’s Thursday test

Stephon Castle said after Game 5, “I think they sent so many bodies towards him, it’s hard at times,” and added, “I think he just wants to make the right play and wants to win.... He’s our best player. We need him to be aggressive. I feel like him being aggressive opens up shots for other guys.”

That leaves San Antonio with one clear task: win Game 6 at home on Thursday night or the season ends. The Spurs have already shown they can tilt the series when Wembanyama is the aggressor, but Tuesday’s loss put them on the edge again, with the series now sitting one Thunder win from the finish.
