Brooke Henderson Adjusts After Brittany Leaves the Bag

Brooke Henderson said it has been a big adjustment to play without her sister Brittany as her caddie. The change began after Brittany stepped away from the bag in February, leaving Henderson to sort out a new routine during the LPGA season.

“Yeah, it's a lot different. It's really been a big adjustment all year, but I'm really grateful to have my cousin on my bag. He's caddied for both my sister and I through the years,” Henderson said ahead of the ShopRite LPGA Classic.

She added that the family connection is still active even without Brittany walking the course beside her. “You know, I still talk to Brit all the time. Texted her this morning a bunch of times, so I still keep in touch as much as I can. I think I'm still leaning on her quite a bit,” she said.

After Brittany’s leave, Henderson hired veteran caddie John Killeen, and she said she started working with her cousin two weeks ago. Brittany took over the bag in 2015 after Brooke’s former caddie Brian “Bunk” Lee passed away, and the sisters went on to spend ten seasons together.

That stretch produced 13 LPGA titles for Brooke and Brittany, a run that made their partnership one of the most established on tour. Brooke and Brittany’s last event together was the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, where Brooke finished third.

Since that season opener, Brooke has failed to register a top-20 finish on the tour. The new setup puts more of the load on Henderson and her replacement crew at a time when she is still adjusting to life without the sister who had handled her bag for more than a decade.

For now, the practical part is simple: Brooke is still leaning on Brittany for advice while learning a different rhythm with her cousin carrying the bag. That is the change she is living with, and it is the change that will shape her next starts.
