Gunner Olszewski Carted Off During Giants OTAs
Gunner Olszewski was carted off after a non-contact injury during a Giants OTA drill on Friday. The wide receiver left the field for further evaluation after the workout paused, and the team had no immediate word on his condition.
Gunner Olszewski and the Giants
Olszewski has spent the last three seasons with the Giants and re-signed with the team this offseason. When healthy, he has been the Giants’ lead punt returner, which puts his status squarely in view as the team works through spring practices.
Last season, he had 10 catches for 145 yards and one touchdown. That usage gives the Giants a small but defined role to replace if the injury keeps him out for any length of time.
Roy Robertson-Harris this month
The injury comes after the Giants lost defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris to an Achilles tear this month. Two absences in a short span leave the roster thinner as the team moves deeper into OTAs.
For now, Olszewski’s next step is the evaluation that follows a cart-off, and the Giants will have to sort out their return game with his availability unresolved. If he cannot return quickly, the punt-return job becomes one of the quieter roster questions created by a spring practice injury.
