Citadel Baseball Draws Oklahoma in 5 p.m. Atlanta Regional Game

Citadel baseball opens the Atlanta Regional against Oklahoma at 5 p.m. Friday, giving the Bulldogs their first postseason shot in a four-team, double-elimination bracket. The matchup sits in Game 2 of the regional, so the result immediately shapes The Citadel’s route through the NCAA Tournament.

Oklahoma Awaits at 5 p.m.

The Citadel carries a 35-24 record into the game. Oklahoma arrives at 32-21, and the two teams meet in a regional that also includes Georgia Tech and Illinois Chicago.

Friday afternoon starts the Atlanta Regional, with Georgia Tech hosting as the No. 2 overall seed. That setup leaves The Citadel in a short field where every game matters because only one of the four teams can advance out of the bracket.

Atlanta Regional Bracket

The NCAA Tournament regional round includes 16 sites, each with four teams seeded one through four. The Citadel’s place in the Atlanta Regional means it has to navigate the double-elimination format against a host team and two other challengers, with Oklahoma presenting the first test.

Oklahoma’s pitching has been described as a strength that could challenge the rest of the field, while The Citadel has to handle the opening game before the bracket tightens. The 5 p.m. start on + gives the Bulldogs a clear target and a fast turnaround into the rest of the regional if they move on.

Road to Omaha

The 16 regional winners advance to the super regionals June 5-8, and the College World Series is scheduled for June 12-22 in Omaha, Nebraska. For The Citadel, the opening game against Oklahoma is the first step toward staying alive long enough to reach that next round.
