Police revoke PSPA at Clontarf after 4.19pm response
Police revoked a Public Safety Preservation Act emergency declaration at clontarf at 4.19pm after responding to a fire at a unit on Weaber Street. The declaration had been in place since about 2.10pm, and the exclusion zone covered seven streets while police and emergency services worked at the scene.
Watson Street, Isobel Street, Enoch Street, Gerald Avenue, Wendy Crescent, Bright Avenue and Cornelius Street were included in the exclusion zone. People inside that area were told to remain indoors and close their windows until further notice, while members of the public were advised to avoid the area.
Weaber Street response
Police and emergency services were called to the unit on Weaber Street after reports of a fire. Roads in the area may still have been affected while the response was under way, and residents and motorists were urged to avoid the area, drive to conditions and follow police direction.
The revocation at 4.19pm ended the emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act, but the street list shows how far the restricted area reached around the unit fire. For people living or driving through the area, the immediate change is that the formal emergency declaration has been lifted, while the earlier instructions explain why access was limited in the first place.
Clontarf streets
The earlier declaration at about 2.10pm and the later revocation show the response moved from active emergency control to a lifted restriction in just over two hours. Anyone affected by the earlier exclusion zone no longer had the same police direction attached to it once the declaration was revoked.
