Leicester City Make Lyndon Dykes Approach for 2026/27

Leicester City have made an approach to sign lyndon dykes for the 2026/27 campaign, putting the free-agent striker back in the market as he prepares to leave Charlton next month. Dykes is weighing that move against a new deal at The Valley while also heading to Scotland's World Cup squad without a club.

The approach adds another layer to a transfer battle that already includes Millwall. Leicester had previously looked at a January move for Dykes before he joined Charlton after limited opportunities at Birmingham City, and they are still seeking a new centre forward after Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew were set to depart when their contracts expire.

Charlton and Leicester

Dykes moved to Nathan Jones' side in January and quickly left a mark on the run-in. He scored three times for Charlton, including the second goal in their 2-0 win at Leicester in late January, a result that now sits inside the same story as Leicester's renewed interest.

Charlton have offered him a new deal, but the timing is working against a clean resolution. His short-term spell at The Valley runs down next month, and the forward is deciding whether to stay where he finished the season or take a different route for the next one.

Scotland squad and contract clock

Dykes' international status sharpens the picture. He has scored 10 goals for Scotland and has been named in the squad for the World Cup in North America, yet he will head there without a club if he does not settle his future first.

That leaves Leicester's interest tied to more than one moving part. The club want a new centre forward, but recruitment is expected to wait until they decide who will manage them in League One, with Gary Rowett having overseen the run-in on a short-term deal after replacing Marti Cifuentes. Charlton have not yet communicated whether Rowett will stay, and that leaves Dykes assessing offers while two clubs wait on his decision.
