Brind'Amour Leads Carolina Into Game 1 Tuesday Night in Raleigh — Nhl 2026 Final Game Dates

The nhl 2026 final game dates open Tuesday night in Raleigh, where the Vegas Golden Knights and Carolina Hurricanes start the Stanley Cup Final in Game 1. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. ET, and Carolina brings home-ice advantage into a series between two teams that have been among the most dominant in the playoffs.

Raleigh Opens the Final

Carolina is back in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006, when Rod Brind'Amour was the team’s captain. Now he is behind the bench, leading a club that has won 12 of 13 games this postseason and reached the Final after four straight wins over Montreal.

The Hurricanes were 8-0 through the first two rounds, sweeping Ottawa and Philadelphia before running into a longer gap between rounds. Their loss to Montreal could be attributed to rust after an 11-day layoff, but they still entered this matchup as a slight favourite because of the home-ice edge and the way they have controlled play in the playoffs.

Vegas Brings Title Experience

Vegas arrives with a different kind of pressure. The Golden Knights are in the Final for a third time in less than a decade of existence and a second time in the past four years, with the 2023 championship still fresh in the room. They also have 12 players back from that title run.

Shea Theodore, who has been with the team since the inaugural season in 2017-18, said, “That feeling, you want that feeling back,” and added, “It feels different, but I think the feeling in the locker room with the guys and how we are with one another, it feels very similar to that — that group in ’23 — how close we are, and it’s just exciting to be back.”

Tortorella, Schneider, and the Grind

Vegas coach John Tortorella said the time between rounds can cut both ways. “I worry about, just you lose your edge just a little bit, that’s a big disadvantage,” he said Friday. “As a coach, you’re always worried about that.” He added, “That’s the key for us,” and, “I think our players, the group is good, and I think they understand that because they’ve been in this before, most of them.”

That concern lines up with the way Cory Schneider described the matchup: “Both these teams defend at a high level. They work at a high level. They don’t give you much room and space and time.” He also said, “I don’t want to say it’s going to be a boring final, but it’s definitely going to be a bit of a grind and whoever comes out on top is going to be the team that can sort of survive that grind.”

Game 1 also carries a clear viewing schedule: 8 p.m. ET, 5 p.m. PT, on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+. For fans in Raleigh, it is the start of a best-of-seven series with Carolina holding the early advantage, while Vegas tries to turn its championship experience into another fast start on the road.
