Kalinskaya Reaches Last 16 as Potapova Tennis Looms
Anna Kalinskaya reached the Roland-Garros last 16 after beating Camila Osorio 6-3, 0-6, 6-2, and potapova tennis now hangs over her next match. The No.22 seed moved into the second week of a major for the third time and will face Coco Gauff or Anastasia Potapova next.
Kalinskaya Takes the Decider
Kalinskaya recovered after Osorio levelled the match with a 6-0 set and finished the job 6-2 in the third. The swing came fast: she opened with a one-set lead, dropped the middle set without winning a game, then closed out the deciding set to keep her run alive.
That win gave her a place in the last 16 at a major for the third time. For a seeded player in the second week, the draw now turns on which opponent comes through between Gauff and Potapova.
Sabalenka Adds No. 100
Aryna Sabalenka also advanced on Day 7, beating Daria Kasatkina 6-0, 7-5. The result carried one clear marker: it was her 100th win as world No.1.
“That gives me goosebumps,” Sabalenka said about the milestone. Her straight-set start faded into a tighter second set, but the two-time champion still protected the result and kept her path through the women’s draw intact.
Parry Reaches New Ground
Diane Parry joined them in the fourth round after a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6[10-3] win over Amanda Anisimova. It was Parry’s first trip to the fourth round at a Grand Slam, and she next meets Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska in the last 16.
For Kalinskaya, the next step is already set by the bracket. She has moved past Osorio and now waits on Gauff or Potapova, with the winner of that match deciding whether the No.22 seed gets another seeded opponent or a chance to attack a player still fighting for the same lane into the quarterfinals.
