Serena Williams Targets Mboko Tennis Doubles Return With Victoria Mboko

Serena Williams is reportedly planning an mboko tennis return by seeking a wild card to play doubles with 19-year-old Victoria Mboko at the Queen’s Club Championships next month in London. The move would bring the 44-year-old, 23-time Grand Slam champion back into competition at a grass-court event that leads into Wimbledon.

Queen’s Club and Wimbledon

The Queen’s Club Championships begin on June 8, and the event serves as a grass-court tune-up for Wimbledon. Williams has made that surface count before: she won seven singles titles at Wimbledon and, with Venus Williams, added six doubles championships in London.

Her last WTA Tour appearance came in a loss to Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round of the 2022 U.S. Open. Since then, she gave birth to her second daughter in August 2023, then re-entered the registered testing pool for the International Tennis Integrity Agency in December and completed the mandatory six-month period in that pool.

Mboko brings the other half of the pairing. The Canadian is 19, and the reported plan would match her with Williams in doubles at one of the most visible lead-in events before Wimbledon.

Williams has kept the door only partly open in public. She initially dismissed comeback rumors in December, then said in late January, “I’m just having fun and enjoying my life right now,” and, “That’s not a yes or no. I don’t know. I’m just gonna see what happens.”

If the wild card request is granted, the next meaningful step is simple: Williams and Mboko would be on the entry path for a doubles appearance at Queen’s, with the grass season and Wimbledon buildup suddenly carrying a much bigger spotlight.
