Leonardo Genoni Lifts Switzerland 6-0 Past Norway — Switzerland Norway Iihf Semifinal 2026

Switzerland shut out Norway 6-0 on Saturday in Zurich in the switzerland norway iihf semifinal 2026, with Leonardo Genoni making 20 saves to send the hosts to the ice hockey world championship final for the third straight year. Switzerland now gets one more chance to win its first world title after finishing second in the previous two championships.

Genoni Holds Norway Scoreless

Genoni was steady throughout, turning aside every Norway chance in a game Switzerland controlled from the first period to the finish. Norway will now play in the bronze medal game.

Christoph Bertschy opened the scoring with 2:24 left in the opening period, and Denis Malgin made it 2-0 early in the second period on an odd-man rush. That quick burst forced Norway to chase the game before the middle period was over.

Swiss Scoring Keeps Rolling

Ken Jager stretched the lead to 3-0, and Damien Riat added a power-play goal to make it 4-0 in the middle period. Nico Hischier scored in the third period, and Theo Rochette finished the rout.

Sven Andrighetto added two assists and led the scoring table with 15 points from nine games. Switzerland also played without New Jersey Devils forward Timo Meier, who was suspended for one game after the semifinal against Sweden. Even without him, the home side kept its pace in front of repeatedly sold-out Swiss Life Arena.

Canada Finland Winner Awaits

Switzerland will meet the winner of the other semifinal between Canada and Finland. The bracket now gives the hosts a direct shot at a title that has stayed out of reach through two straight runner-up finishes.
