Arsenal Gabriel Falls as PSG Win 2025 Shootout in Budapest

Arsenal Gabriel ended with PSG lifting the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest, Hungary, after a penalty shootout settled a match Arsenal had led through Kai Havertz. Ousmane Dembele pulled PSG level from the penalty spot in the second half, and PSG held on when the game reached kicks from the spot.

Havertz and Dembele trade blows

Havertz’s goal gave Arsenal the edge before Dembele answered with PSG’s second-half penalty. That sequence set the tone for a final that never settled cleanly in open play, with both sides finding clear chances but neither creating enough separation before the shootout.

David Raya made a couple of decent saves off his line and stayed mostly calm despite a few giveaways with the ball at his feet. Matvei Safonov also did his part, producing a brave first-half save to deny Trossard, while Marquinhos made a strong block to stop Havertz before the break.

PSG turn the match

Fabian Ruiz helped PSG turn things around in the second half, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia won the penalty that brought the French side level. Desire Doue kept finding space for teammates and remained a threat throughout, while Vitinha came close to winning it late when his curling effort flew just over.

Nuno Mendes was fortunate not to concede a penalty in extra time after bringing down Madueke, and Bradely Barcola missed a major breakaway chance at the end of normal time. Warren Zaire-Emery steadied PSG after coming on as a substitute, keeping them on top in midfield when the game tightened.

Ratings tilt PSG’s way

The ratings reflected PSG’s balance across the pitch. Desire Doue and Kvaratskhelia led the way with 8s, while Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha each earned 7.5. Willian Pacho also landed a 7.5, and Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, Ousmane Dembele, and Warren Zaire-Emery were all rated 7.

Safonov received a 6.5, and Raya got a 7 despite Arsenal’s defeat. On the other side, Barcola and Goncalo Ramos were rated 6, Lucas Beraldo got a 6, and Ilya Zabarnyi also finished on 6, leaving PSG with the stronger set of individual marks in a final decided by one shootout.
