Edson álvarez rules out Rayados move and targets Europe
Edson álvarez pushed back on the Rayados rumor and said he wants to stay in Europe longer. The West Ham midfielder framed that choice around his career, his family and his desire to keep growing on the continent.
Speaking with David Faitelson, he said Europe remains his plan for many years and that he is focused on what is best for him. The comments arrive after speculation that had linked him with Monterrey and after a recent update placed his value at $15.5 million.
Álvarez and Faitelson
Álvarez did not leave much room for interpretation. “Hoy en día claramente priorizo mi carrera como futbolista, pero hoy también soy padre de familia, hoy quiero darle una mejor vida a mis hijas, poder tener esa libertad y el estar en Europa me habla de seguir creciendo como persona y poderle otorgar esa oportunidad a mis hijas, a mi familia, quisiera estar muchos años allá, obviamente ese es mi plan, pero la vida tendrá otros planes, yo nunca estoy peleado con nada, entonces que sea lo mejor para mi” he said in the interview.
That answer directly addressed the rumor that had put Rayados into the discussion. Days earlier, Faitelson had mentioned him as supposedly an advanced signing, which helped push the debate about whether a return to Mexico could come sooner than expected.
West Ham through 2028
His current contract with West Ham runs through 2028, so any change in direction sits against a firm club commitment. That makes his public preference more than a casual comment; it narrows the field around his next move and keeps Europe at the center of the conversation.
European talk has also pointed to Ajax in Amsterdam as a possible destination, adding another layer to the discussion around his future. For now, Álvarez has made the clearest part of that picture simple: he wants to stay abroad, keep developing as a person, and keep his daughters in mind while he plays out the next stage of his career.
