Luxury Escapes opens Travel Tester role worth $50,000 — 7news
7news reports Luxury Escapes opened applications on Sunday for its first-ever Travel Tester role, a paid opportunity worth about $50,000. The winner will travel with a guest to destinations including the Maldives and Sri Lanka, then provide detailed feedback and content for the company’s social channels.
Adam Schwab on the role
Adam Schwab said the concept came from a childhood fantasy: "Five-star luxury, not paying a cent. I’ve always wanted to be Willy Wonka and this is our chance,". He said the company will not be looking only for heavy travellers, adding: "We don’t necessarily need someone who’s been on 500 holidays. We want someone who’s really curious, is really good at communicating and really understands what customers want,".
The successful applicant will receive training on content creation before the trip and will then be expected to test flights, accommodation and tours as a mystery shopper. Schwab said the job is designed for someone who can give detailed feedback on every part of the experience, not just enjoy the travel.
Luxury Escapes trip itinerary
Luxury Escapes said the winner and a guest of their choice will also receive two luxury Australian escapes, all expenses paid. The overseas destinations listed for the role include the Maldives and Sri Lanka, giving the winner a mix of international and domestic travel across the assignment.
The company’s pitch combines luxury travel, mystery shopping and social content creation into one paid role, which helps explain why it is drawing attention from Australians who want to turn a love of travel into work. The application window opened on Sunday, putting the search in front of would-be applicants right away.
Margy Osmond on Australia
Margy Osmond said Australians continue to have reasons to travel abroad, but she pointed to domestic trips as well, saying: "There’s always good reasons, I suppose, to travel internationally. But the overwhelming reason for travelling here in Australia is it’s the best location in the world,". Her comments sit alongside Luxury Escapes’ offer of two Australian escapes, which means the role is not limited to overseas travel alone.
For applicants, the immediate step is simple: apply for the role while the search is open. The person selected will then be trained in content creation before taking the trips and submitting the feedback Luxury Escapes wants from its first Travel Tester.
