Police Arrest Teen in Las Vegas Horse Stabbing at South Point

Police arrested a teenage girl after a las vegas horse stabbing at an equestrian event in Las Vegas on Saturday, saying three horses were intentionally injured with a sharp object. Officers were first called around 2:07 a.m. to the 9700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard.

The Las Vegas Police Department said the horses had been “intentionally injured with a sharp object,” and detectives later determined that a teenage girl was a possible suspect. Police also said she “may have used a knife to inflict multiple injuries to the horses,” a detail that points to a deliberate act rather than an accident.

Police found the suspect in a nearby hotel and took her into custody without incident before transferring her to Clark County Juvenile Hall. The horses’ injuries were not life-threatening, but police said they will likely prevent the animals from competing in the event.

The case drew attention because it overlapped with the 2026 National Barrel Horse Association event at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa. NBHA said on social media that the incident involved “the mistreatement of a limited number of equine athletes by an event competitor,” and said the individual involved was “removed and placed in the care of authorities.”

South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa later said an incident did take place and that all involved horses are safe. For competitors still at the event, the immediate consequence is practical: three horses are out of contention, and the arrest shifts the focus to juvenile authorities and any further review tied to the barn access police said the suspect had.
