Teichmann Beats Muchova 6:1, 7:5 to Reach French Open Last 16
Jil Teichmann beat teichmann by beating Karolina Muchova 6:1, 7:5 at the French Open and moved into the round of 16. The Swiss player, ranked WTA 170, did it against a world No. 10 and reached the last 16 in Paris for the second time in her career.
Muchova Falls in Two Sets
The first set ended quickly. Teichmann took it 6:1, then closed out a tighter second set 7:5 to end Muchova's run in Paris.
Muchova entered the match as world No. 10, but she never found the opening set rhythm she needed. Teichmann handled the pressure late in the second set and finished the job without dropping a set.
Swiss Women in Paris
Teichmann's result came on a strong day for Swiss tennis. Belinda Bencic also reached the round of 16 without losing a set, beating Victoria Mboko 6:3, 6:3 after about one and a half hours.
Viktorija Golubic added another Swiss win, defeating Alycia Parks 6:2, 6:2. Three Swiss women reached the third round of Roland Garros for the first time in history, and Teichmann's victory pushed that run one step farther.
Teichmann's Return
At 28 years old, Teichmann is back on the big stage after a longer mental break. This result gives her a second French Open run to the round of 16 and keeps the Swiss presence alive in Paris after a day built on clean wins and steady scorelines.
